Until the First World War, he undertook nine more crossings of the Alps, as well as flights over the Egyptian desert and South Africa. Spelterini carried hundreds of balloon enthusiastic passengers, and Count Zeppelin also appreciated Spelterini's extraordinary skills as a balloonist and made several trips with him from 1893 to gain experience in the handling of these aircraft.
