Departure into the Unknown. Classical Modernism at Lake Constance
closed (11.12.2018–12.5.2019)

For the first time, the Zeppelin Museum is showing highlights of classical modernism from its own collection. 100 masterpieces by artists such as Max Ackermann, Willi Baumeister, Karl Caspar, Maria Caspar-Filser, Otto Dix, Andreas Feininger, André Ficus, Karl Hájek Kunze, Erich Heckel, Carl Hofer, Adolf Hölzel and Hans Purrmann illustrate the wide range and high quality of the collection.
In the 20th century, the region around Lake Constance became particularly interesting for artists who were branded "degenerate" under National Socialism.
The contrasts are what make the period so fascinating: the worst catastrophes of mankind took place, but it was also a time of incredible development in art.
